Update #2. Sadly Ryley had to be helped to Rainbow Bridge. April 30, 2008. She fought and fought her disease and I realized that she wasn't going to give up on her own, she had 2 really bad days and I said, enough is enough you have to find peach little girl. Go find my grampa he'll carry you in his pocket until we meet again. I love you.

Update #1, 2008 didn't begin so well for Miss Ryley here. She was in a seizure when I went into their play room to play with her, immediately from all the reading I've done, I screamed for my husband to take her while I searched for kayro. I had nothing on hand except some sugar, so I put a little bit on her gums, she quit seizing after about 30 seconds. she lay quiet and calm in my husbands hand. she had drool pooling out of her mouth, dazed look in her eyes. I called the emergency vet, while waiting for the call back, I called a ferrety friend who I knew had dealt with this herself, and also has seizures herself as well. She told me everything I did was good, the vet beeped in, I told her what happened and she said to bring her right in. I went to the other line with Tab and said goodbye that we had to leave asap to meet the vet and thanks for her help and for helping me calm down.

Ryley is now on Prednisone for the rest of her living days. I fear everyday when I go in to play, administer meds, food, etc. that I'll find her gone. :( Its heartbreaking watching her slowly go. Its so depressing, but atleast I have this photo and will always have it, that special moment between her and I, and the love for each other we have expressed in this self portrait of my hands, holding her delicate and fragile body.

Thanks for all the favorites and adds over the past few years with this photo! I'm so glad I got to share this photo with others!

I could have never pulled of a shot like that with my cybershot good job.. and it is amazing that you got a ferret to stay still long enough for even the shutter to go :)

no they aren't even related to rats! Ferrets are a VERY expensive and hard pet to take care of. I have 4 and my bank account has been hit hard! very very sensitive creatures. Sadly after these four pass on, I won't be getting anymore. :( I just can't do all the health issues.
:iconsparkinia:
Wow..that sounds really hard... o.o
